As the technology increases world comes with new operating systems with more features than older OS.Same happened in windows Recent Operating system Windows7 had great feature of partitioning of Hard Disk without formattng .In prevous versions of windows(xp,2000) partition can be possible only at the time of installing Operating system.But windows 7 is unique.Shrinking or expanding the Hard Drive in Windows 7 can be brought about by a utility program known as Disk Management. How will you delete, re-size, or even create a new partition in this operating system is hereby described below:

- Goto "start" button and Right click on"computer" then you will navigate to options click "Manage"
- A new window will appear with name "Computer management" click on "storage" in that window and then go to "Disk Management".
- After clicking Storage will give the your disk space in computer.
- Select one of the partition which you want to partition.Then right click on it and navigate to option "shrink volume".
- A new window which contains the size of drive before shrink and available space to shrink,In next row will be asked to enter the amount of space you want to shrink and that will be the size of new partition.
- After doing this click on "shrink" option and wait for process to complete(time taken depends on size of space to be shrink).After processing select that unallocated space in the disk of exact value you entered earlier.Select that unallocated space and right click on it and goto "New Simple Volume".
- A wizard will appear,fill the corresponding values in it.Usually the value needed to enter is the same one that you entered as the volume to be shrunk.
- The drive newly created needs a letter to be assigned to it.
- A Format page will appear and in it carefully notice that the File System selected is “NTFS ” . After this is done enter a name for your drive and then click on ” Next ” and then “Finish “.

This article was written on the basis of test in Windows7 Ultimate version.But after getting the readers feedback, it seems that the procedure does not work fine in the other versions of Windows 7 like Home Premium(if your hard disk contains more than four partitions) etc. So please make sure that you are using Windows 7 before applying this method to partition the hard drive.
