Computing Using Gestures

SixthSense Pranav Mistry
In today’s world, computing has nearly become one of our daily needs. Computers and mobiles are used almost everywhere. Mobile computers (Laptops and PDA’s) have become too common just because people want to use computer everywhere means they would like to use their computers wherever they are, at home, at office, at parks at schools and colleges.

We have been using computers since so many years. The most basic form of providing input is still the keyboard and mouse. Keyboard has been made much more smaller in order to fit it even in a small place. Mouse is replaced with touch screen display in order to make computer more personal and small so that they can carry it anywhere.
Now, imagine a computer which is as small as your mobile and you can move it along with you everywhere. It uses your gestures as your input. Now-a-days, input using gestures is widely used in mobiles. HTC has introduced the use of gestures for providing input through the use of its technology named “HTC Sense”.

MIT Students have researched on Sixth Sense technology that uses gestures for providing input and interact with computers. Broadly speaking, ‘SixthSense’ is a wearable gestural interface that augments the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information. Pranav Mistry is one of the inventors of Sixth Sense technology.

Sixth Sense technology uses a combination of small camera and mobile projector. The mobile projector displays the information (screen) on a surface and camera tracks the gestures provided by the user. By analysis of that gesture, the appropriate operation is performed. SixthSense technology is the future of Gesture based computing. Below you can watch the video of Pranav Mistry speaking about his SixthSense technology.
